A Trace Analysis Approach to Comprehend Features in Object-Oriented Effect Systems

Many object-oriented systems, such as CASE tools manipulated by GUIs and Java Servlet applications responding to requests from internet clients, are driven by external inputs. We call such systems objectoriented effect systems where effects in runtime system states implement features correctly. Effects comprehension is thus an integral part in feature comprehension for object-oriented effect systems. However, effects comprehension in object-oriented effect systems is difficult and requires maintainers a new analysis method with different viewpoint for ordinary feature comprehension. In this paper, we propose a trace analysis method that is based on a trace model, and provides an effect analysis principle and a deductive object-oriented relational language as an analysis tool.
